How successfully are you positioned? By Sachin Karpe

Sachin Karpe explains how people looking to establish their business need to position themselves.
Most often when we hear such a catchphrase, we think about the tactical positioning of a Multinational organization. However, positioning is significant to the success of a small business - even more than a large business that can survive any changes in economy and trends in the marketplace.

So let’s start with understanding what is positioning?
Positioning stands for:
-The reason for your starting a business
-The reason for customers to look out for you
-The reason for people to want to work with you
Simply cut down, it means "what do you do exactly?" and “What different do you offer?”

As a trade you should know what it is that you do. Can you state your business in a sentence? It is of utmost significance that you are able to state clearly your position. Don’t confuse with lengthy explanations with industry specific exhortation. You should really understand what your trade is before trying to explain it to general public.

Sachin Karpe says, ‘Be precise as you target your consumer. You should be able to address their needs in a language that they understand. Your customer should know immediately that you are talking to them.’
Finally, remember, that you do everything for your customers, not yourself. Remember their role in the success of your business. If you are constantly telling them about yourself and not something which will interest them then you are not addressing their concerns. They do not care if you are the 'leading' group or the fastest growing. They want to know what you can do for them. Leave the ego-centric discussions for after hours with your staff.
Remember, A Customer is the KING!
